From District Court, a man who tired to reconnect with his children got thrown in jail for violating a court order.

The defendant, Elliot Siaumau was charged with private peace disturbance and criminal contempt.

According to court filings Siaumai went to his ex-wife’s house without her consent, disobeying a court protection order that was issued by the State of Hawaii.

The order is in place until September 2, 2020.

Though he was made aware of the conditions of the court order, Siaumau went to his ex wife’s house to pick up a 4-year-old son.

His ex-wife didn’t approve and the two got into an argument which escalated into a fight, during which the defendant punched the victim.

According to court filings, the victim fell back and the defendant grabbed the boy and jumped in his vehicle.

While he was backing out of the compound,  his ex grabbed a shovel and smashed all of his car windows and windshield.

This took place while their son was in the vehicle.

The defendant went to the police station later that day to file a complaint against his ex-wife for the damages she caused to his vehicle.

Because both parents behaved violently, their children were put in the custody of Human and Social Services.
