All’s set for the first Faafafine Festival at Suiga Ula o le Atuvasa tomorrow.
The two day event is sponsored by the Sosaiete o Faafafine in American Samoa (Society of Fa’afafine in American Samoa) or SOFIAS.
Tomorrow is the Family Fun Day from 10am – 4pm and admission is free.
There’s a Trade Fair, entertainment on the main stage with a fashion show, and a Kids Zone, with many activities to engage the children.
On Friday, the evening program moves to the Lee Auditorium from 7pm to 10pm with a program featuring creative couture, song competition, contemporary siva, and poetic choral recitation.
Miss SOFIA, Jayleen Chun, says she’s had the idea of a Faafafine Festival for awhile and it’s for the public’s enjoyment while at the same time creating a positive image for their association.
