The President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, Mr. Mark Dunkerley, spent yesterday taking in the sights that travelers to American Samoa would enjoy if they visited.

Getting more people to come to the territory is one of the things that the airline is working on with the American Samoa Visitors Bureau and which Mr. Dunkerley will discuss further with Governor Lolo Moliga today.

Mr. Dunkerley, who is on his second visit to American Samoa, is here with Vice President of Corporate Communications, Ann Boticelli , Margaret Cummisky, Managing Director of Federal Government Relations and their head of field  operations.

The airline president’s first visit in 2009 was a few days after the September 29 tsunami.

Dunkerley was upbeat about the airline’s joint promotions with the American Samoa Visitors Bureau which has seen American Samoa events included in the airline’s inflight video.

He says he will discuss with Governor Lolo Moliga other ways that they can work together to increase travelers to the territory and also improve infrastructure at the airport.

Dunkerley says the volume of traffic on the Honolulu Pago Pago route determines air fares.
