Department of Health Honors Past and Present Nurses

Director of Nursing at the Department of Health, Margaret Sesepsara, says nurses have played a significant role  in preventive health care in the territory the past 100 years. Some of her predecessors are recognizable names.   A few have moved off island but have come back to mark 100 years of nursing in American Samoa. Past directors of nursing at the Department of Health include Arieta Mulitauaople, Repeka Howland, Diana Tuinei, Tuumafua Maiava, Matamuli Punimata, Tele Frost Hill was acting for some time until Sesepasara was appointed a few years ago. The current nursing director highlighted another milestone for American Samoa’s nurses, the appointment of Faraitoafe Milo Malaepule Utu as Deputy Director of Health. Play Audio
