The Department of Labor Wage and Hour division wants to make sure employers and employees are well versed with new overtime regulations that go into effect December 1st.

At present federal law exempts  employees with weekly salaries of $380 from being paid overtime.

But on December 1st the overtime rule will change and managers earning salaries of up to $767 a week are entitled to overtime.

Director Wage and Hour Division, Honolulu District, Terence Trotter is here with Min Kirk, Assistant District Director and Herbert Lee, Community Outreach Regional Planning Specialist to explain the new overtime rule and other labor issues, and also carry out routine investigations of complaints.

They will hold two public sessions at the Department of Agriculture Conference room in Tafuna, Wednesday, July 27 to explain the change.

The first session is from 9am  to 11am and the second one is from 1 to 3 pm.

Trotter encourages employers and employees to attend the sessions.
