A locally owned fishing boat named Mary Louise is fortunate to have received help from the Coast Guard Cutter Kukui which was in port for a few days.
According to information from the Coast Guard safety Detachment unit, the vessel sent out a distress call early Monday morning about 30 miles out.
The Maine Patrol Division of Department of Public Safety worked with the local Coast Guard and a search was conducted by the cutter Kukui.
The vessel, which had the local owner and two of his children on board, was located that evening and it was towed back safely to port on Tuesday morning.
The owner told the Coast Guard that the boat’s engine dies and they were just drifting.
