A defendant claims he was threatened at the Territorial Correctional Facility.
Siaosi Laulu made the claim during a status hearing in High Court yesterday.
He faces charges of sexual abuse 1st degree, sodomy, burglary 1st degree and burglary 2nd degree is now before the High Court.
Laulu asked the court if he could make a statement.
He said, “I do not know why I’m here I don’t know understand the charges against me or anything about my case.
“When I was in District Court all I was told to say by my counsel is just say yes.”
Laulu mentioned that while at the Tafuna Correctional Facility he requested a translator in order to speak to his attorney the response that came through the phone was a swear word in Samoan.
He said, “Please that is not my name and if you don’t stop I am going to report you.”
The other person replied through the phone, “you can go ahead but in the meantime I’m going to dig your grave!”
Laulu will be back in court on July 26th.
