US & Japan show interest in goods from Samoa

A trade delegation from the United States & Japan has been looking at potential export ready food & beverage products from Samoa.

The delegation was led by Crystal Corcoran – grand-daughter of the late Prime Minister of Samoa, Tofilau Eti Alesana, and included FL Network USA & Japan Executive Directors as well as their main distributors in Tokyo, Japan.

Talamua online reports that the group met with the executive of the Samoa Manufacturers and Exporters – SAME.

The delegation inspected Samoa’s latest selection of export ready products such Virgin coconut oil; Vailima Export, Pure & Vailima Natural beers; Taula, Manutagi and Sama beers; snack products from Tropical Crisps; Cocoa Nibs and Paste from Nora’s Plantation; Wilex Samoa’s milk & dark chocolates and macadamia and almonds of Samoa origin; Samoa’s Chilli sauce; CCK honey & coffee; breadfruit flour and avocado oil produced by Scientific Research Organization of Samoa; and nonu juice from various SAME exporters.

FL Network USA has 365 shops and outlets throughout Japan that distributes their products and employ over 7,000 people.

SAME President Tagaloa Eddie Wilson highlighted the quality of Samoan made niche products as witnessed by the delegation, and the fact that the local producers are ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP Certified.

The delegation was impressed with the quality of the products on display and expressed interest in trial shipments as well as agreeing to work with SAME on packaging and labeling for new products from Samoa aimed at the Japanese and USA markets.
