Final Fundraiser for Group to PacFest in Guam

American Samoa’s 80-strong delegation to the Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam, leave the territory May 20 for the two week fusion of song, dance, art, culture and Pacific people.

To help cover costs for sending American Samoa’s ambassadors to Hagatna,  the Council on Arts, Culture and Humanities, with the help of South Seas Broadcasting Inc, KVZK-TV, American Samoa Visitors Bureau, the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority and Faasao Marist High School, will hold a radiothon/telethon tomorrow.

The event will be from 9am to 2pm on V103 and 93 KHJ and KVZK-TV.

The drop off stations for donations are:

  • Arts Council Fale in front of Jena p hayden Museum in Fagatogo  ,
  • Pago Pago Community center or Dept of Youth and Women Affairs Center in pago pago
  • Nu’uuli Aumaga fale-CBT
  • Cost u Less and
  • Faasao Marist High School Lepuapua.

Off island donors can be part of the event via on line streaming by the radio stations and KVZK-TV.

It’s planned that the Samoan  Community in Guam will also make appearances.

Faasao Marist high School ‘s cultural group, led by principal Victor langkilde and school chaplain Fr. Vaiula, have been selected to perform In Guam.

Siapo artist  Reggie Meredith Fitia , weaver Cinderella Tuaimalo and carver Paulo Petelo will demonstrate their art .

Museum staff with the help of Samoans in Guam will show how the umu and popular Samoan dishes like faiai eleni, palusami, faaausi, koko alaisa and other traditional food are prepared,

Director of the American Samoa Arts Council Uta Dr. Laloulu Tagoilelagi humbly appeals to lawmakers, directors, business owners, churches and the community to give what they can to help off set the costs of sending our cultural and arts ambassadors to show the region what defines us as unique and special.
