Pago Pago Matai Complains About Unfair Treatment

Pago Pago High Chief Pulu Ae Ae Jr, wants fair treatment for all government employees who are crew of fautasi in the  Flag Day race.

His  beef is that while employees of the Fono and the ASG fautasi are getting time off from work for their week day training, employees who are crewing village boats like the Aeto are not getting the same treatment.

According to Pulu some of their dependable crew members are turning up at training, after the Aeto leaves for their evening practice.

According to Pulu, the employees have said their bosses have given strict instructions that no one is to leave work before 4 pm on account of fautasi training.

Pulu says he’s seen the ASG fautasi crew and the Fono crew leave work after lunch or even before lunch in the case of the Fono to train.

The Fono fautasi crew began camping at the House side of the Fono building last week.

Pulu said if those crews are allowed to leave work early then the same should apply to all ASG employees who are fautasi crew members.

He said even directors are spending most of their work day with their fautasi and not doing the work they are paid to do.

Pulu said the Fono and ASG fautasi have an advantage over the village boats and he knows government money is being spent on feeding and training those crews, whereas the villages are forking out to pay expenses for their boats and crews.

And If that’s not enough, the departments are keeping employees who are crew members of village fautasi at work while letting the others leave to practice.

He said it was a bad idea to have the two government boats in the race.  And he hopes this will be the first and last time this ever happens.
