A man has been arraigned in High Court accused of killing his wife in February in Faleniu.

The couple’s nine-year-old son is the only witness to how his mother died.

Court records cite the boy telling police that he saw his dad strangling his mother with a chord inside her bedroom.

He said  his mother was trying to scream for help but the cord was too tight around her neck and he saw white stuff coming out of her mouth.

The woman was admitted to the hospital on the day of the incident, February 12, and she died on February 22.

According to the government’s case, the husband claimed that his wife tried to commit suicide.

A teacher at the son’s school heard the boy relating what he saw to friends and recorded his story on her phone, after which she contacted police.

That prompted a police investigation which led to the man’s arrest.

The son told police that he was scared but could not do anything .

According to the boy, his father told him if he talks, he would do the same thing to him.

The defendant is charged with five counts:second degree murder, first degree assault, making false reports, private peace disturbance and public peace disturbance.

He entered a not guilty plea in High Court Friday.

KHJ News is not disclosing the defendant’s name to protect the 9 yr-old son’s identity,
