What started out as a Bluesky employee relief drive for victims of the deadly Cyclone Winston in Fiji last month became a community cause.

BlueSky customers, members of the public and one school responded generously to the company’s relief drive for Fiji.

Bluesky started the “Fiji Needs our Help” drive in all Bluesky Group companies soon after Cyclone Winston caused wide spread destruction and loss of lives, with employees donating and collecting food, clothing, school books as well as toys.

The drive began February 22 and ended last weekend.

Bluesky’s Sherry Sele says from the start they were receiving calls for pickup of donations, and individuals and families were dropping off bags or boxes of clothes and food at their retail store.

Tafuna Elementary students also initiated their own donation drive and presented what they collected: clothing , food and supplies to Bluesky to be combined with what the company collected for Fiji.

Last Friday, Bluesky Country Manager Filifotu Vaai Tinitali presented all the donations to the local Fijian Community who initiated the Help4Fiji drive.

BlusSky also gave a check of $5,000 which will go to the Fiji Red Cross. The company will also pay the cost of an additional container to transport the donations to Fiji

Bluesky Country Manager Vaai Tinitali thanked the community, employees, the local Fijian community and all those who gave unselfishly for the victims of Cylone Winston.

President of the Fijian Community Save Tuiwailevu accepted the donations and expressed gratitude for the generosity of Bluesky and the people of American Samoa.
