A yet unnamed tropical depression that was nearly 400 miles away from American Samoa this afternoon is generating dangerous swells –over the next 72 hours.

You can expect waves of between 12 and 15 feet beginning tonight and peaking at 21 feet by tomorrow night.

Meteorologist Carol Maafala Baqui of the National Weather Service cautions the public to stay away from the beach and be aware of large waves when you’re driving on parts of the highway that are on the edge of the ocean.
