The District Court was packed this morning. There was a waiting line at the entrance and it took longer than usual to go through the security check by District Court staff.
The crowd included people who were arrested for offences during the New Year’s Day weekend, plus people needing clearances for immigration and business licensing purposes.
The District Court calendar had 36 cases, many more than the 12 that the Territorial Correctional Facility cited in a report to KHJ News this morning.
There were nine driving under the influence arrests and the rest were domestic and public peace disturbance cases.
Some of those arrested for DUI were able to post the $500 bail and were released.
