Lack of organization by Hawaii Junior Prep Sports is the reason why American Samoa is unable to send an all-star volleyball team to the first annual Junior Prep Sports American Paradise Classic 2016 in Hawaii.

This is according to the Director of Education, Vaitinasa Dr. Salu Hunkin Finau.

She explained that the JPS’s plans for the volleyball competition did not materialize for reasons the Director was not aware of.

Vaitinasa pointed out that another reason why the volleyball team is not included is lack of funding to cover travel costs for players coaches.

Ten members of the girls All-Star Volleyball team were preparing for the trip to Honolulu. However only the football team ended up leaving Friday.

The local committee in charge of the Hawaii trip decided to concentrate on the football team as there were too many preparations which needed to be made and time was not enough to get everything done for both the football and volleyball teams to travel this year.

The high school football team now in Hawaii is entirely all senior athletes and the Director explained that they wanted to give the seniors exposure before graduation.

She is hoping that all 42 players will attract the attention of the many college football recruiters who will be in Hawai’i for the event.
