The father of Rhonda-lei Lagarejos-Satele, the victim of an incident which police are still investigating, passed away Saturday morning in the Intensive Care Unit of LBJ Hospital.

Her father, Su’a Carl Schuster Sr. in an interview with KHJ News expressed his gratitude on behalf of his wife, families and children of Rhonda Satele, for the outpouring of support from not only the local community but friends and relatives from around the world when learning of his daughter’s unfortunate situation.

Rhonda and her husband Tafa Satele had gone out on the night of Saturday, April 30.

According to Commissioner of Public Safety Save Liuato Tuitele the couple had an argument when they left a night club.

They were the only ones in a vehicle that Mr. Satele was driving when Rhonda fell out while the car was moving.  This occurred late Saturday night at Lepuapua.

Su’a says Satele has not shared with at least him and his wife what  happened Saturday evening that lead to the death of their daughter.

Su’a said that there had been many accounts but he would not share any as police investigations are continuing.

Su’a was grateful for the outpouring of love for their daughter and family since the tragic incident.

He said offers of medical assistance were recieved from the mainland, New Zealand and Australia.

Congresswoman Aumua Amata was instrumental in securing the help of an influential doctor in the mainland who was willing to travel down until he read the LBJ Hospital’s report of Rhonda’s condition.

The grieving father told KHJ News that he’s going to make sure that his daughter’s death was not in vain.

Su’a is determined to write a report and expose the experience they had to go through with his daughter’s situation so something  is done to avoid unnecessary deaths at LBJ.

Reminiscing of his daughter, Su’a said that Rhonda was in charge of their Triple SSS Gas Station in Tafuna.

The last time he talked to her was that Saturday morning at the gas station when she told him that she’ would have mom take care of him that day.

They parted that morning and went about their own schedules.

That night he and his wife got a call from police to go to the hospital where Rhonda had been admitted.

Su’a remembered his daughter to be a peacemaker in their family.

Whenever he told her to scold and discipline the Triple S Gas Station employees,  “the guys will be cracking up in her attempt to put on a stern face.”

Su’a said he and Ronda’s Mum, Salote Star Schuster, will sorely miss Rhonda as will her siblings and her five children “whom she adored very much.”

We at KHJ News extend our deepest sympathies to Rhonda’s family at this difficult time.
